Meetings and Events Industry Trend: Bleisure Travel

What is Bleisure?

Bleisure is the blending of business travel with leisure. It’s when attendees extend their stay before or after a meeting or event—or bring family and friends along—to explore and enjoy the destination.

While the term has been around since 2010 and is even used in HR circles, it's now stepping fully into the spotlight. In 2025, we’re seeing bleisure shift from a “nice-to-have” to a standard operating expectation—and for good reason.

Flexibility is now a core workplace value. Allowing employees to include family or friends in their business travel is a simple, appreciated perk—and it’s already happening. Recognizing and supporting it is better than ignoring it.

Organizations offering bleisure see the benefits. These include stronger employee satisfaction, greater loyalty, and measurable increases in productivity.

Generational preferences are shifting. Millennials and Gen Z professionals are more likely to integrate travel, personal relationships, and work-life balance—bleisure aligns naturally with their expectations.

Remote work has made blending schedules easier. Time zones and work hours are more fluid, so it’s easier than ever to balance meetings with meaningful leisure time without “going off the grid.”

Bleisure is no longer a perk; it’s an expectation. Companies and events that embrace it are not only staying competitive—they’re investing in talent retention, loyalty, and employee well-being.

At Alleanza, we believe meetings should create connection, impact, and joy. Adding thoughtful bleisure elements to your M&E strategy is one more way to support your people and elevate your event experience.
